Chidori is made by Millers Coffee Co, Auckland. Craig Miller has an association with the Japanese mother who brought a potted Ume tree with her from Japan as a gift for a wedding in NZ. Yes, those were the days when you could bring a live potted tree as carry on luggage on the international flight with you!
The Ume tree was grown from a cutting of a 100+ year old fruiting Ume tree growing in the mothers family garden in Japan. From that one mother tree which found a new life in NZ, the Ume fruit used in this sparkling Ume soda came from trees propagated from her.
